Today I had a lot of energy so I put all I had into attacking the clutter in my apartment. It’s a good thing too, since I had a mountain of clothes to wash. Midway through, I started singing along to Spotify and thought, hey, get this on camera. I even used my DSLR! I still need to put away about 40% of the now clean clothes but at least I have more wardrobe options again! Aside from laundry, I’ve been doing a lot of correspondence with clients and edits for commissioned work. This month has been pretty good for business!
The Thrift It Clique has come together once again for a collaborative style post, this time on summer style. I thought it over for awhile and decided to wear something that reflected my new lifestyle as full-time creative entrepreneur. Since I work from home, I like to be comfortable unless I’m going out. Plus, it’s like 500 degrees outside. I’ll be wearing light colored fabric, as usual, and showing a bit more leg this season.
In other news, Brandon went out of town for five days for work so I decided to take a trip to Nae’s house. Justice (woof) and I packed up our gear and hopped into her car to hit the road. It was nice to work away from the apartment and spend time with my sister and nephew and brother-in-love. Seems like we’ve all been pretty busy lately. Justy and I went home the next day and I got to work on this week’s busy work for my company.
For this OOTD I decided to wear a tan cami underneath a thrifted loose graphic tee that reminds me of lineart from a sketchbook. To finish things off I added my polka dotted beige shorts, also thrifted, originally from J Crew. You can’t see my shoes because I’m not actually wearing shoes, hahah. It’s summer time and I guess I feel much freer without shoes and socks on my feet. Though I wouldn’t suggest walking outside barefoot. The ground is hotter than the air! Speaking of, don’t forget to protect your dog’s feet from being scorched by the ground. Keep them in the grass and dirt or else they could get injured.
This Saturday, my husband and I went to the Taste of Addison event. One of my awesome writing clients hooked me up with two free tickets in exchange for images and a blog post! Naturally I jumped on the chance and asked Brandon to come along for some fun in the park. Before we left the apartment, he seemed a little doubtful that we’d have much fun but I think the promise of food was enough to get him rolling. I’m glad because as soon as we got there, the smells of food made our mouths water!
After we hopped from booth to booth, snacking and chatting away, he started to really enjoy himself. He even got some footage for Periscope! We are both going to need to get in a few extra workouts to make up for all the calories we consumed! After spending three hours in the park, we jumped on the ferris wheel to get a view of the carnival that takes up a large part of the park. It was a little scary up there, but mostly romantic. By the end of the night, Brandon and I were all smiles. A chill started to settle in the air on our walk back to the truck. My feet were hurting from standing most of the day so Brandon carried me on his back for most of the walk back as I cheered him on.
Time for a shameless plug: if you want someone to cover a local event in the Dallas metroplex, feel free to contact me! I love new experiences and strive to take lots of pics whenever I go out and about. I’ll write up a post to go along with the images and have it back to you within a few days. Contact me today to with your ideas.
Brandon told me that he was having a stressful time at work so I treated him to dinner and a movie. As the night went on, he told me that spending time with me made him feel relieved, relaxed and calm during tough situations. Hearing him say that means so much to me. Things were quite different earlier in our relationship. Continue reading “Getting in Sync with your Spouse takes time, Don’t Give Up”
I was reading a blog about wives submitting to their husbands and was struck by a comment that said something to the fact of falling in line behind your husband when he takes the lead or control. I was inspired to write this post and expound on the comment that I left on their blog. I hope it sparks new ideas and positive views. In the beginning of our marriage, managing money was really difficult, to say the least. We had very different views on what was a good investment, how much to spend when and how much to save. I hadn’t lived with my parents for about four years so I had a little more experience when it came to budgeting according to a set income. When we got married, Brandon landed this awesome job with a 40k starter salary. I, on the other hand, had trouble finding a good job until midway through our marriage. Whenever we sat down to budget, tensions always seemed to rise when discussing why some purchases were a bad idea or how we could possibly be set back in our goals. Even within recent months, after trying several ways of running our ‘budget meetings’ together, it still usually ended in frustration. Continue reading “Money Managing with my Husband”
Brandon comes back home tomorrow night! I’ve enjoyed these couple of days on my own but I will be really glad to see him. My work day was pretty dull but the time went by at a pretty good pace. After work, I went across the street for pizza with a friend. Here is what I wore today. The skirt is from the Salvation Army. My sweater is from New York & Company. Let me know what you think. I changed up my hair today, got a lot of compliments from co-workers.
