Aug. 24, 2015 OOTD: Resisting Retail has Begun

I still have a few days left in my 30 day grace period but there is nothing more that I need to add to my wardrobe at this point so I’m officially starting the challenge of Resisting Retail for the next 365 days. I even added a countdown widget at the bottom of my site to keep me motivated. My next post will include images of my entire wardrobe so you guys can see what I have to choose from and even help me pick some OOTDs if you like. Something that seems to be a result of this challenge is my being more conscious of what I want to wear and wanting to look my best. With that in mind, my first outfit felt like a perfect way to kick things off.

I bought this top weeks ago, only back then, it was way too big for me and had sleeves. I did some alterations myself and made it fit, ditching the sleeves in the process. Then I just paired it with these thrifted white slacked (originally from The Limited) and my brown wedges from DSW. I felt so chic in this outfit and managed to go through the entire day without getting anything on my pants, win! What do you guys think? Let me know with a comment. If you’re participating in a wardrobe challenge or downsizing to a seasonal capsule I’d love to hear about it.

Have courage,
Elle

July 25, 15 OOTD: Navy and Zebra Stripes

Brandon and I did a lot of running around this weekend. By the time Sunday came, we’d bought several games for the wii and movies. I also connected with two Japanese women in the US that want to do a language exchange with me! I’m really excited about that since I’m studying Japanese independently. I also found some Youtube channels to follow along with as I learn.

It was really hot so I opted for these navy lace shorts from a brand called Alt B. and my thrifted Zebra top and brown sandals. I really loved this look (my husband raved over it too 😀 ). I will definitely be wearing this combo again. My shoulders are naturally broad and seemed to stand out in this OOTD but I’ve learned to embrace that, no shoulder pads required. Let me know what you think in the comment section.

July 1, 15 OOTD: Taking Some Time for Us

Brandon (the hubs) and I have taken the rest of the week off from our day jobs to relax, have some fun and enjoy turning a year older. His birthday was June 29th and mine is this Sunday, July 5th. We’ve managed to get a lot done around the house. I took some pics, edited some pics, acquired a new client, networked with some models and recorded a video for my Youtube channel that launches on my birthday. I’m on a roll baby! Just being home and working on these things gives me a rush. I can see this being my normal routine in the near future. No talking to pushy rude clients on the phone. No having to be stuck in a cubicle. I’ll be able to work on my own terms, that is pretty awesome!

Anyways, I decided to wear my Agaci razorback crop top and my green slacks from the Gap. I’ll probably wear some brown shoes with this once we leave the house. But for now, I’ll be chilling barefooted.

Elle

June 24th OOTD: Remixing my Forever 21 Dress

Today I decided to try something different with my OOTD. I grabbed my thrifted purple skirt (Hillard & Hanson) and paired it a dress from Forever 21. With a little tucking and the right ear rings, I wound up with a colorful draping effect on top and a classic fit on the bottom. I wanted to be comfortable so I just tossed on some tan sandals (I think from Payless actually). Today was even better because I got to chat with an old friend. Now on to the video editing! My Youtube channel launches on July 5th. If you read my blog on the regular basis, feel free to let me know what you’d like to see. I’m thinking art, fashion, photos and logging.

June 23rd OOTD: Feeling Spiffy

Today I wanted to wear something that made me feel powerful and professional so I opted for this look. It’s a blue button down from Banana Republic, coupled with these grey plaid slacks and my DSW wedges. I wore my glasses but didn’t wear them here because the light kept causing a glare. It was a no make up kind of day. I can tell my confidence is building because I have started to edit my images less over time. Maybe I’ve been doing a better job of taking care of myself. I used to avoid wearing this shirt because I felt like it was a little too close fitting. Now it fits perfectly as if it were tailored. Hooray for progress!

June 22nd OOTD: It’s Monday Again

Today was a pretty slow day work wise. I was glad because I stayed up until 3am finishing my twists. I hope these last for awhile. It’s going to be nice not having to do my hair everyday. Today I decided to be comfortable and feminine. I went with this gathered black top from New York & Company and this tie-dye skirt from the thrift store. It was made by a company called Alberto Makali. I finished it off with some flat black shoes but I didn’t bother putting them on for these shots. I guess you’ll have to use your imagination.
