Yesterday I got lots of work done for a new video based class that I’m going to teach on Skillshare as a way to make passive income. It’s the first of many! I recorded myself working as well as an intro and conclusive video. Now all that’s left are the voiceovers. I hope to finish those before my interview today for a part time marketing assistant gig.
I wore a thrifted Rue 21 peach colored top with lace netting on the shoulders. My skater skirt is from my lounge and fitness thrift haul. I felt so flirty and cute in this. I wore brown wedge shoes (not shown) as Brandon and I hit the Salvation Army to buy supplies for the camping trip I’m chaperoning next week.
Gone on any thrift shops lately? I’d love to see what you bought. Leave me a link or comments below.

I’ve been doing lots of thinking around ways to make passive income so I can enjoy all that summer has to offer. Aside from posting our vacation in Vegas video and talking about why I shave my head on my Youtube channel, I’ve decided to work on new videos everyday to build my audience and start making money from ads.
Ordering something sweet
Lot’s of sweet treats at the donut shop
The shop keeper took our pic before we rode off towards the church.
We parked near the window so we could keep our eyes on our bikes
We jammed ourselves into Mom’s car with our bikes
Mom took this pic of us in her car
Our truck bit the dust last month and I’ve once again embraced the commuter lifestyle. To get to church, we take two buses and then ride our bikes the rest of the way. While waiting on our second bus, we found this little donut shop and decided to step in for breakfast. After church let out, we hitched a ride with my mom back to our place.
Eating at Ojedas for my birthday!
Their salsa is good and spicy!
Ojedas is a lively place in walking distance of our apartment.
We stopped to take a pic in front of this flag on the 4th of July.
The next day was the fourth. Instead of jumping into an event or barbecue, we took a long walk with Justice (woof) and relaxed at home. The next day was my birthday! Brandon had to work but surprised me with lunch at Ojedas, my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. I ate the Carmel special and had two celebratory frozen margaritas. So good! Brandon had to head back to work but Nae (my twin sis) and my brother-in-love Danio joined me for round two.
More summer fun is on the way and I can’t wait to indulge! I’ll keep you updated via blogs and vlogs to keep you in the loop.

Summer is here and I’m loving every moment of it! My husband and I went swimming twice this past weekend and I’ve taken up doing morning yoga and walking Justice (woof) in the evenings. I love that it’s still warm after sunset! My friend and her bestie just moved into our complex so I’m looking forward to visiting them this week!
Today’s another day ‘at the office’ as I edit images, prep blogs, post on social media and write up paid blog postings. After stretching this morning, I felt really loose and calm. To boost my mood, I decided to wear my thrifted green maxi dress ($2 I believe) and a necklace that I bought from Charming Charlie a year ago. I’m spending most of the day at home, hence my bare feet. This dress is really soft, flowy and comfortable. I can do anything in a maxi!

Once I finish up work for the day, I’m going to start prepping for Brandon’s birthday tomorrow! We are going to have some family over, eat and play a few games. He said he just wanted to chill which means I’ll be spending the day cleaning up our place and getting ready for guests to arrive! In between that, I hope to record a few videos for my Youtube channel. Working on my own has me so inspired!

The Thrift It Clique has come together once again for a collaborative style post, this time on summer style. I thought it over for awhile and decided to wear something that reflected my new lifestyle as full-time creative entrepreneur. Since I work from home, I like to be comfortable unless I’m going out. Plus, it’s like 500 degrees outside. I’ll be wearing light colored fabric, as usual, and showing a bit more leg this season.
In other news, Brandon went out of town for five days for work so I decided to take a trip to Nae’s house. Justice (woof) and I packed up our gear and hopped into her car to hit the road. It was nice to work away from the apartment and spend time with my sister and nephew and brother-in-love. Seems like we’ve all been pretty busy lately. Justy and I went home the next day and I got to work on this week’s busy work for my company.
Pausing for a pic before heading out for a snack run.
Justice in the yard, I think he heard something, lol.
Both Justice and I are strapped in and ready to roll.
Can you the resemblance? What if I had hair?
Nah driving off into the sunset.
I think gold is my color.
Poor Nae was wiped out after work. She looks pretty cool from this angle 😀
For this OOTD I decided to wear a tan cami underneath a thrifted loose graphic tee that reminds me of lineart from a sketchbook. To finish things off I added my polka dotted beige shorts, also thrifted, originally from J Crew. You can’t see my shoes because I’m not actually wearing shoes, hahah. It’s summer time and I guess I feel much freer without shoes and socks on my feet. Though I wouldn’t suggest walking outside barefoot. The ground is hotter than the air! Speaking of, don’t forget to protect your dog’s feet from being scorched by the ground. Keep them in the grass and dirt or else they could get injured.
So I’ve been auditing my closet again. Now that the seasons have changed and my company is in full swing, it’s time to try some new things with my wardrobe. After evaluating my closet with the Kon Marie method, I narrowed down the items that I wear out the house to 80 (shoes not included). After my no shopping experiment, I realized that I’d outgrown some of my clothes and needed a refresher. I didn’t quite make it a year but I learned a lot about my personal stye. Now that I have two trash bags full of clothes to donate, I’m looking forward to new outfit possibilities. My plan is to keep my number of items at 100 or less. With 20 slots open, I can’t wait to go shopping!
As I start hunting for new closet candy, I’ll be posting weekday capsules. Starting next week, I’ll pull up to seven items from my closet to wear for five days. I’ll take a break and have free fashion weekends where I wear whatever I like. Any time I get new clothes, I’ll post them for you all to view. I’m also planning on getting three pairs of sandals for the summer and two more pairs of wedge heels. I’ll be set on shoes for a while on shoes after that. I’m going to share my weekday capsules from May 9th until September 2nd.
Who out there is making wardrobe capsules for the summer? I’d love to read about it. Leave a comment and link to your favorite fashion capsule blog. If you’re a Dallas local, I’d love it if you’d come to my Spring Fling Meet and Eat on May 21st.

Our gently used clothes.
I found something!
A little dance for the camera 🙂
Everything was so cute!
That’s all folks!
This past weekend, my friend Addie and I hosted our own Fashion Revolution event. I showed up around 2pm to help set up the backdrop and go over our itinerary. Addie pulled out a cute tray of cookies and sustainable glass jugs reminiscent of the ones used for milk in the 40’s. After our two guests arrived, we got down to business.
Addie explained the meaning behind Fashion Revolution. To sum things up, it’s a movement dedicated to exposing dangerous working conditions and the large amount of waste produced in the fashion industry. On April 24th, 2013, the Rana Plaza complex collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This left 1134 dead and 2500 others wounded. This sparked the start of Fashion Revolution. People wanted to challenge clothing distributors to take an active part in facilitating better care of the individuals who make the clothes that we wear everyday. People flipped their clothes inside out, tagged the maker of the garment, and posted the image with the hashtag #whomademyclothes. The impact of this year’s participation was phenomenal but we still have a ways to go.
After Addie’s presentation, I explained the basics of a capsule wardrobe and how one can start taking the steps to consolidate their closet. Most people have tons of clothes that they never wear. These clothes were bought on impulse or kept long after they were relevant. I encouraged our guests to define their signature style and then do a purge of the items that don’t fit the bill. After that, we started our frock swap! A frock swap is when a group gets together and brings gently worn items that they no longer wear. Everyone in the group gets an opportunity to swap their items with those of someone else in the group and goes home with new clothes for their closet. The cool thing about frock swaps is that they don’t require money, they are environmentally friendly and are a great way to make friends. I came to the swap with four items and left with 5 (couldn’t resist a bag!).
After the swap, we had some fun in front of our thrifty photo booth before chatting with each other. It was a great first run. I’m looking forward to facilitating more frock swaps in the future!
To finish off the month of July, I combined a mini dress, denim jacket and thrifted shorts for work. It’s getting really hot outside so my wardrobe is starting to get interesting, depending on how cold it is in the office in comparison to how hot it is outside. I wasn’t sure how this would turn out but once I took these pics, I felt pretty good about it. Thank goodness for loose dress codes at work. The other day I wore a button down top and proceeded to sweat all day long. haha.
Let me know what you think about this and feel free to leave a comment.
Brandon and I did a lot of running around this weekend. By the time Sunday came, we’d bought several games for the wii and movies. I also connected with two Japanese women in the US that want to do a language exchange with me! I’m really excited about that since I’m studying Japanese independently. I also found some Youtube channels to follow along with as I learn.
It was really hot so I opted for these navy lace shorts from a brand called Alt B. and my thrifted Zebra top and brown sandals. I really loved this look (my husband raved over it too 😀 ). I will definitely be wearing this combo again. My shoulders are naturally broad and seemed to stand out in this OOTD but I’ve learned to embrace that, no shoulder pads required. Let me know what you think in the comment section.
