Introducing Found Fashion Fridays!

I’ve decided to not only post images of my own outfits but of those that I see when I’m out and about! It won’t be every Friday starting off but I’m hoping to post one of these babies at least once a month. To kick things off, here are some fashionable locals that made it in this month’s lineup!

It’s Friday, what are you gals wearing this weekend? I’d love to see your ootd. Share a link to one of yours in the comments!

One Week after Quitting my Job OOTD

I left the corporate world to focus solely on my company and personal endeavors. It’s only been seven days but some pretty amazing things have already happened!

Savor Dallas Garden Party

Tonight I’ll be attending the Savor Dallas Garden party, curtesy of Fun City Stuff DFW. They are calling this event a ‘mega happy hour’ that includes art, food and wine. This is the first of several events that will be put on by Savor Dallas this week.

Fun City Stuff is the go-to source for fun events happening in North Texas. They also run contexts and give reviews of these events via their website. I’ve been given the privilege of blogging my experience at Savor Dallas tonight! I’m so geeked, this is the first time I’ll be guest posting on a popular site for locals. I can’t wait to share the results with you! Aside from blogging, I’m going to vlog my experience for my Youtube Channel so stay tuned!

Meanwhile, I found this beautiful strapless dress that I turned into a skirt for today’s ootd. It was only 1.50 at the thrift store! After refashioning it and paring it with a thrifted top that I already own, I came up with this little number.

This may be my favorite ootd yet! What do you think of this one? Are you gals attending any parties this weekend?

Valentine’s Day Surprise for my Husband

1I’ve been married for four years and have a pretty good idea about what my husband likes to do for fun. He loves movies, food, golf, getting active and, as of late, Tori Kelly. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard him playing her music, humming along or gushing over something she did or said on Youtube. Seeing him get so excited about something made me want to do something special, surprise him in a big way. Continue reading “Valentine’s Day Surprise for my Husband”

Self Portrait OOTD

Today I shot a video, got gussied up and took some images of myself for my website and a marketing campaign that I’m working on. I thought I’d share my OOTD with the images I took. They aren’t the usual 360 but I hope you get the gist.

I wore a new combination today, lace and floral. I wanted to do a semi-monochromatic look so I chose colors within the same color family. I think it turned out to be a success. What do you think? Leave a comment below!

OOTD: Friday Floral and Denim

Today’s ootd was experimental. It was cold out but I still wanted to wear a skirt. To stay warm, I threw on some olive colored tights and another skirt underneath my vintage blue floral skirt (thrifted). I paired it with a thrifted denim jacket that I wore as a top, a thrifted woven belt and a burgundy necklace that I found on clearance at Icing. Wasn’t sure what shoes to wear so I just went with a pair of black Mary Janes.

I coordinated a company wide paper airplane contest today. Everyone had so much fun getting away from their cubicles and just playing around like kids. My team won the best looking plane award and a cash prize! Not a bad way to start the weekend!

OOTD: Spring in the Winter

As promised, I’m posting my OOTDs again on my personal blog. I apologize for the gap in these fashion posts. I’ve been busy working on my company plans and website but I don’t want to let my recording of my thrifted fashion goals go astray.

My top was one of the items I snagged when helping my mom organize and create her capsule wardrobe. It fits so comfortably and allows room for me to layer shirts underneath without getting frumpy. And of course, I love the lace and the rose collared jewelry (thank you Charming Charlie)! The sun was shining so bright that it made this top look a little coral but it is actually more pink, lol. The pants were thrifted and are featured in my visual wardrobe post. The shoes are the only thing I bought retail from Target. Overall, I love this look, especially since the weather has been cold and gloomy. I prefer to keep my pastel patterned style all year long. While an all neutral wardrobe is common, I love the way light colors and lace look against my skin.

Tackling Mom’s Wardrobe

Mom’s closet after the makeover

Over the holiday break, I sat down with my mom and helped her determine her personal style. She had soooo many things in the closet but felt like she didn’t have much to wear. After leafing through a few books and her closet, we determined that she has Gamine style = sweet and charming. After a few hours of holding up garments for her to keep or give away, we ended up with 41 keepers. We realized that she loved hues of pink and biege/gold for tops and dark colored pants. She wanted a 50 piece wardrobe so I took her thrift shopping (her first time!). Continue reading “Tackling Mom’s Wardrobe”

Resisting Retail: My Wardrobe Photo Library

If you’ve been reading my blog, you know that I’m on this Resisting Retail Challenge where I’m not buying clothes for a year. As promised, I have photographed every item in my closet that I plan on wearing for the next 365 days (this doesn’t include fitness items, sleepwear or undies). I was nervous about starting this challenge because I really enjoy thrift shopping. As I lined up all of my clothes and labeled them, I quickly discovered that I had a lot of choices.

Here are the stats:

55 Tops
13 Pants
7 Jackets & Blazers
4 Pairs of Shorts
31 Skirts Dresses

It just goes to show you that I’m pretty much equipped not to shop for a while. If you think of it with a worldly perspective, the amount of clothes I have is really excessive in comparison to someone who only has one outfit that they wear out of the house and one to wear at home. I’m truly blessed, right where I am, to have so many options. It’s not about warmth or coverage, I’ve dipped into the style and self expression pool. I’m thankful and grateful but it’s time to stop shopping and start styling with what I have available. So without further ado, here are my clothes. If you want to participate in the challenge, feel free to pick out an outfit and leave your thoughts in a comment. I’ll wear the items you chose and post them on my blog. Click on a set of items for a closer look. Have courage.

Aug. 31, 15 OOTD: Monday’s Back to Work Look

Continuing on with my challenge of not shopping for clothes for a year, my first goal is to wear everything in my closet once for the first round of OOTDs. Today I wore my black cardigan from Ross as a top, wrapping it around my waist and tying it up in the back over my thrifted dress that I adjusted a few months ago. It’s not my favorite OOTD but you never know until you wear something. I think I looked pretty good for a Monday’s back to work look. What do you think?
