OOTD: Spring in the Winter

As promised, I’m posting my OOTDs again on my personal blog. I apologize for the gap in these fashion posts. I’ve been busy working on my company plans and website but I don’t want to let my recording of my thrifted fashion goals go astray.

My top was one of the items I snagged when helping my mom organize and create her capsule wardrobe. It fits so comfortably and allows room for me to layer shirts underneath without getting frumpy. And of course, I love the lace and the rose collared jewelry (thank you Charming Charlie)! The sun was shining so bright that it made this top look a little coral but it is actually more pink, lol. The pants were thrifted and are featured in my visual wardrobe post. The shoes are the only thing I bought retail from Target. Overall, I love this look, especially since the weather has been cold and gloomy. I prefer to keep my pastel patterned style all year long. While an all neutral wardrobe is common, I love the way light colors and lace look against my skin.

Elle

So much to be Grateful for

Hi Queens and Kings.

My Friend Elle on Thanksgiving with her family

This past week I spent a much needed week away from work at our family house in Grand Prairie. While it was a little tough adjusting to the periodic yells from my nieces, I got in some much needed relaxation, quality time with family and even some exercise. The only downside was not being able to spend that time with my husband. He spent the week with his family out of state this year but we kept in touch through text and video chats until his return on Saturday. Continue reading “So much to be Grateful for”

Aug. 31, 15 OOTD: Monday’s Back to Work Look

Continuing on with my challenge of not shopping for clothes for a year, my first goal is to wear everything in my closet once for the first round of OOTDs. Today I wore my black cardigan from Ross as a top, wrapping it around my waist and tying it up in the back over my thrifted dress that I adjusted a few months ago. It’s not my favorite OOTD but you never know until you wear something. I think I looked pretty good for a Monday’s back to work look. What do you think?

Aug. 28 OOTD: Friday Freedom

It was another tough day at work, juggling two jobs at once but I made it through without too much complaining, lol. I’m very excited about my OOTD today because it included a skirt that I made myself. The skirt used to be attached to a vintage puffy sleeved long dress that may have been work by an old lady in the 90s at some point, lol. It was pretty overwhelming on the eyes but I cut the bottom half off and added elastic to the waistband to refashion it into a flowy skirt. I’m really happy with how it turned out. Brandon helped me put this OOTD together since I couldn’t find my glasses this morning. We paired it with a thrifted Old Navy denim top, a leather belt and my nude shoes from Target. My bag is from Charming Charlie.  What do you think?

August 17th OOTD: Stripes and Floral

My husband loves when I wear the color pink. He also loves anything skirts and dresses so I decided to combine both of those for my OOTD on Monday. It may sound cheesy, but I like to think that when he looks at me, he likes what he sees. I also strive to wear things that make me feel positively about myself and this was definitely a winner on both sides. It kind of reminds me of the 90s mixed with today’s style. A lovely librarian, a substitute teacher that all the kids like. These are the kinds of images and feelings that I got when I wore this. What do you think of?

The top is from Banana Republic divided at the waist by my brown Old Navy Belt. I got this vintage skirt from a thrift store and my earrings from Charming Charlie. The necklace costed $1 from a costume jewelry shop at the mall.

July 31, OOTD: Hot Outside, Cold Indoors

To finish off the month of July, I combined a mini dress, denim jacket and thrifted shorts for work. It’s getting really hot outside so my wardrobe is starting to get interesting, depending on how cold it is in the office in comparison to how hot it is outside. I wasn’t sure how this would turn out but once I took these pics, I felt pretty good about it. Thank goodness for loose dress codes at work. The other day I wore a button down top and proceeded to sweat all day long. haha.

Let me know what you think about this and feel free to leave a comment.

July 25, 15 OOTD: Navy and Zebra Stripes

Brandon and I did a lot of running around this weekend. By the time Sunday came, we’d bought several games for the wii and movies. I also connected with two Japanese women in the US that want to do a language exchange with me! I’m really excited about that since I’m studying Japanese independently. I also found some Youtube channels to follow along with as I learn.

It was really hot so I opted for these navy lace shorts from a brand called Alt B. and my thrifted Zebra top and brown sandals. I really loved this look (my husband raved over it too 😀 ). I will definitely be wearing this combo again. My shoulders are naturally broad and seemed to stand out in this OOTD but I’ve learned to embrace that, no shoulder pads required. Let me know what you think in the comment section.

July 1, 15 OOTD: Taking Some Time for Us

Brandon (the hubs) and I have taken the rest of the week off from our day jobs to relax, have some fun and enjoy turning a year older. His birthday was June 29th and mine is this Sunday, July 5th. We’ve managed to get a lot done around the house. I took some pics, edited some pics, acquired a new client, networked with some models and recorded a video for my Youtube channel that launches on my birthday. I’m on a roll baby! Just being home and working on these things gives me a rush. I can see this being my normal routine in the near future. No talking to pushy rude clients on the phone. No having to be stuck in a cubicle. I’ll be able to work on my own terms, that is pretty awesome!

Anyways, I decided to wear my Agaci razorback crop top and my green slacks from the Gap. I’ll probably wear some brown shoes with this once we leave the house. But for now, I’ll be chilling barefooted.

Have courage,
Elle
