Valentine’s Day Surprise for my Husband

1I’ve been married for four years and have a pretty good idea about what my husband likes to do for fun. He loves movies, food, golf, getting active and, as of late, Tori Kelly. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard him playing her music, humming along or gushing over something she did or said on Youtube. Seeing him get so excited about something made me want to do something special, surprise him in a big way. Continue reading “Valentine’s Day Surprise for my Husband”

Self Portrait OOTD

Today I shot a video, got gussied up and took some images of myself for my website and a marketing campaign that I’m working on. I thought I’d share my OOTD with the images I took. They aren’t the usual 360 but I hope you get the gist.

I wore a new combination today, lace and floral. I wanted to do a semi-monochromatic look so I chose colors within the same color family. I think it turned out to be a success. What do you think? Leave a comment below!

OOTD: Friday Floral and Denim

Today’s ootd was experimental. It was cold out but I still wanted to wear a skirt. To stay warm, I threw on some olive colored tights and another skirt underneath my vintage blue floral skirt (thrifted). I paired it with a thrifted denim jacket that I wore as a top, a thrifted woven belt and a burgundy necklace that I found on clearance at Icing. Wasn’t sure what shoes to wear so I just went with a pair of black Mary Janes.

I coordinated a company wide paper airplane contest today. Everyone had so much fun getting away from their cubicles and just playing around like kids. My team won the best looking plane award and a cash prize! Not a bad way to start the weekend!

OOTD: Spring in the Winter

As promised, I’m posting my OOTDs again on my personal blog. I apologize for the gap in these fashion posts. I’ve been busy working on my company plans and website but I don’t want to let my recording of my thrifted fashion goals go astray.

My top was one of the items I snagged when helping my mom organize and create her capsule wardrobe. It fits so comfortably and allows room for me to layer shirts underneath without getting frumpy. And of course, I love the lace and the rose collared jewelry (thank you Charming Charlie)! The sun was shining so bright that it made this top look a little coral but it is actually more pink, lol. The pants were thrifted and are featured in my visual wardrobe post. The shoes are the only thing I bought retail from Target. Overall, I love this look, especially since the weather has been cold and gloomy. I prefer to keep my pastel patterned style all year long. While an all neutral wardrobe is common, I love the way light colors and lace look against my skin.

Life as a Bald Woman

IMG_6234
One of the first things people ask when they see me is “Are you ok?” because they are concerned that I have come down with a sickness that has reduced me to baldness. Once I reassure them that I’m healthy, they ask “What made you decide to cut your hair?” followed by “Are you going to grow it back out?” and “I don’t think I could pull that look off”. I get lots of mixed reactions from admiration, to shock so I thought I’d write about what life is like for me as a bald woman. Continue reading “Life as a Bald Woman”

Becoming a Bald Babe

IMG_6207

If there’s one thing that can stress, depress or inspire us on a daily basis, it’s our hair. Add thinning areas, split ends and texture to the mix and you’re in for a long night. Over the past four years, I’ve been loving, hating and tolerating my hair. Some days I feel amazing and others, I feel like I look bad. I’ve been going back and forth on what to do with my hair a lot lately. It has been growing but not all over my head. There’s a huge thinning area that’s been the bane of my hair attempts since 10th grade. Continue reading “Becoming a Bald Babe”

Tackling Mom’s Wardrobe

Mom’s closet after the makeover

Over the holiday break, I sat down with my mom and helped her determine her personal style. She had soooo many things in the closet but felt like she didn’t have much to wear. After leafing through a few books and her closet, we determined that she has Gamine style = sweet and charming. After a few hours of holding up garments for her to keep or give away, we ended up with 41 keepers. We realized that she loved hues of pink and biege/gold for tops and dark colored pants. She wanted a 50 piece wardrobe so I took her thrift shopping (her first time!). Continue reading “Tackling Mom’s Wardrobe”

Getting in Sync with your Spouse takes time, Don’t Give Up

us

Brandon told me that he was having a stressful time at work so I treated him to dinner and a movie. As the night went on, he told me that spending time with me made him feel relieved, relaxed and calm during tough situations. Hearing him say that means so much to me. Things were quite different earlier in our relationship. Continue reading “Getting in Sync with your Spouse takes time, Don’t Give Up”
