Summer OOTD + Update

Elleword - Green Maxie OOTD

Summer is here and I’m loving every moment of it! My husband and I went swimming twice this past weekend and I’ve taken up doing morning yoga and walking Justice (woof) in the evenings. I love that it’s still warm after sunset! My friend and her bestie just moved into our complex so I’m looking forward to visiting them this week!

Today’s another day ‘at the office’ as I edit images, prep blogs, post on social media and write up paid blog postings. After stretching this morning, I felt really loose and calm. To boost my mood, I decided to wear my thrifted green maxi dress ($2 I believe) and a necklace that I bought from Charming Charlie a year ago. I’m spending most of the day at home, hence my bare feet. This dress is really soft, flowy and comfortable. I can do anything in a maxi!

Elleword - my rosy necklace went perfect with this thrifted maxie dress. So comfy!

Check out my fellow Thrift It Clique ladies to see what their summer style looks like!

Once I finish up work for the day, I’m going to start prepping for Brandon’s birthday tomorrow! We are going to have some family over, eat and play a few games. He said he just wanted to chill which means I’ll be spending the day cleaning up our place and getting ready for guests to arrive! In between that, I hope to record a few videos for my Youtube channel. Working on my own has me so inspired!

August 26 OOTD: Hump Day, Hard Day

Today was a rough day. I had so many tasks flying at me at work, I got kinda burned out mentally. I’m covering my work and a co-worker’s duties while he is out on vacation this week. Besides a bunch of work, my temporary crown broke into three pieces and I have to go to the dentist tomorrow. Apparently they neglected to schedule me for my permanent fitting when I got this thing and I should have had it removed weeks ago. SMH, what the hay man? Despite that, I was still able to find a good OOTD consisting of one of my newer thrifted tops, originally from the Limited and my green slacks from the Gap. Let me know what you think of this one. My pics are a little darker than usual, I didn’t get to take these until the sun was setting.

July 1, 15 OOTD: Taking Some Time for Us

Brandon (the hubs) and I have taken the rest of the week off from our day jobs to relax, have some fun and enjoy turning a year older. His birthday was June 29th and mine is this Sunday, July 5th. We’ve managed to get a lot done around the house. I took some pics, edited some pics, acquired a new client, networked with some models and recorded a video for my Youtube channel that launches on my birthday. I’m on a roll baby! Just being home and working on these things gives me a rush. I can see this being my normal routine in the near future. No talking to pushy rude clients on the phone. No having to be stuck in a cubicle. I’ll be able to work on my own terms, that is pretty awesome!

Anyways, I decided to wear my Agaci razorback crop top and my green slacks from the Gap. I’ll probably wear some brown shoes with this once we leave the house. But for now, I’ll be chilling barefooted.

Have courage,
Elle

My Friend Elle's OOTD for July 1st 2015

June 25th 2015 OOTD: Green is on the Menu

Today my work day began with a stressful email from a client. I didn’t let that bother me. Instead I focused on the things I could do well while listening to music and brainstorming ideas for the future. I have began to reach out to other bloggers in the area in order to start collaborating soon! I’m so excited. Aside form new content, I hope to make some good connections and a few friends too. Any ways, I pulled out my green blazer from Love Culture and my 7 skinny jeans from Macy’s. I took a note form yesterday’s OOTD and decided to take a mini summer dress that I found at the thrift store and wear it like a top instead. I wanted to show off some curves so I belted the blazer with a skinny belt from Forever 21. Let me know what you think!

3.27.15 My OOTD

My husband and I took the day off to run errands and get our car title. It’s been sitting in the same place for months but in a day or two, it will be getting donated to charity for veterans. I made this dress out of a sheet and an old dress shirt that belonged to my brother in law after viewing this post by Ma Nouvelle Mode. I’m pretty happy with the results, although, the next time I attempt this, I will adjust the sleeves more.

3.24.15 Today’s Outfit

So my work day was pretty rough. My computer had a bunch of issues going on and slowed down/stopped progress. I just hope it’s back on track tomorrow. I don’t want a repeat of frustration with PC computers. I almost wish that I could have brought my iMAC to work with me at one point, lol. But even though the work day sucked, I feel great about my look for the day. The light jacket was given to me by a friend. My shirt was a $5 find at the Goodwill and the Jeans came from Macy’s (another Mom gift from a few years back).

My day improved greatly once I got home. My nephew and I went for a walk to the library to pick up a sewing book I requested and stopped for ice cream before heading home. I have really enjoyed having him over for the last couple of days. I’m looking forward to his next visit.

3.23.15 Monday’s Outfit

To start the week off, I decided to wear my green slacks from the Gap, mini cable knit sweater and Forever 21 belt. I felt really cute today and it seemed to have an effect on my work day as well. Like plenty of ladies (and gents) out there, I am working on improving my wardrobe. I want to put a higher focus on femininity and what I call “modestly sexy”.

As a way to stay within my budget, I have taken up sewing. With my new skills, I am going to take items that I get from Thrift stores and tailor/customize them for a better fit/look. I can’t wait to start sharing my re-fashioned works. So far, this is my second week of planning my outfits based on a capsule of ten items. Because I know I am limited in advance, I choose a a emphasis color and then surround it with neutrals, textures and a few patterns. By adding some accessories, I create five outfits to wear to work during the week and on the weekend, but for the sake of the blog, and my time, I only archive my week day looks. I’m not a professional stylist or guru. I’m just a girl learning to define my style, one week at a time.

Second March Capsule – 2015

My favorite color is green, so this week, my wardrobe for the week was centered around green, grey and a bit of brown. I’m really excited to wear the shorts. I found them at a thrift shop and they are long enough to wear to work. Let me know what you think about this week’s picks. If you have any ideas for future capsules, drop me a line.
