Thanks for visiting Elleword where I live out life with a courageous perspective online.
I’m a newlywed creative pro enjoying life in the big state of Texas and beyond. I work for myself, making a living from the things that I create with my own hands. Here’s a shameless plug for my photography company, Gernelle Nelson. It takes faith, action and lots of courage, but I’m up for the challenge. When I’m not working, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and getting social, thrift shopping and spending time with my husband Brandon.
I’m currently a member of the Thrift It Clique, a community for thrifters and those who want to become thrifters! We share our finds, tips, success stories and help each other with thrifted style. Each month we will feature a style and create looks around it from our thrift store finds. Follow along with the hashtag #ThriftItClique to see posts made by all the members of the clique each month!
When it comes to fashion, my goal is be resourceful, creative and definitive. I’m on a mission to expand my personal style while saving money, using my DIY skills and helping the environment by buying second hand items 95% of the time (the 5% left out is usually used for shoes, lingerie and the occasional new dress). You won’t find a bunch of links or discount codes in most of my posts because most of the items, even if they were made from a popular brand, came from thrift shops. I feel that while it’s cool and exciting to shop these fashion blogs on the web, there are many of us who are looking for more affordable and green ways to enjoy/explore our style.
My signature is ‘have courage’ because it takes a lot to move forward towards your goals, especially if they aren’t traditional or a ‘sure thing’. That’s what I’m doing. I hope this blog and My YouTube Channel inspires creative action in others!
I’ve been married to my best friend since October 2011. No matter what life throws at us, it’s a blessing to be able to go through life with someone who vows to love you and never leave your side. These are our adventures.
I’m working towards my dream of financial independence and having a real social life, LOL. Thus far, I’ve paid off enough debt and saved up enough cash to leave the corporate world! I’m navigating entrepreneurship with plans to travel, spend more time with family and earn more while I’m at it!
I’ve found my own sense of fashion via thrift shopping, OOTDs and capsule wardrobes. Take a look at what I’ve come up with thus far and be on the look out for style challenges!
