YouTube Channel Launch

My Friend Elle is launching a Youtube ChannelLately I’ve been pretty tied up with church activities but now that summer has arrived, things are going to slow down. It’s a good thing too because on July 5th, my birthday, I’m launching my Youtube Channel! I tried to start one last year but it didn’t go anywhere, mostly because my content was centered around something that I wasn’t that passionate about. So this time around, I’ve taken the time to think about what I truly like and how I could share that with others. This time, I’ll be making content around Thrift Store Fashion, art tutorials, photography tips and personal insight through vlogs. I’ve been filming in advance to prepare but I still have lots of prep work to do before it’s all ready. I’m a little nervous but mostly so excited! I don’t know where this new road will lead but I’m gonna start walking.

I’ve seen lots of ordinary people, young and not so young, find their calling and careers via Youtube. I don’t have to be a Youtube star, but I’m hoping that through my interactions, I can meet people and land opportunities that I otherwise may not have heard about. This is a fun project, true, but it’s also a mode of getting myself seen by as many people as I can. Maya Washington, also known as Shameless Maya, was asked to shoot an album cover for Prince after he viewed her work on YouTube. What are the odds? Teenagers are earning six figure salaries from sponsorships and ad payouts everyday. If they can do it, surely I can too.

The one thing I keep reminding myself is that just by putting my work out there, I’m doing more than others have courage to do. Sure, there are some really crass people on there who will say whatever rude thing they can about you and your work but who cares? There will always be someone who wants you to fail. I choose to listen and focus on those who want me to succeed and believe in myself. Aside from business opportunities, I’m hoping to collaborate with people who in the area who are working towards their dreams, whether they are bloggers, fashion lovers, artists, singers or cake makers. I’m going to get some business cards made so I can pass them out when I meet someone who I think would be a good fit and go from there. I also plan to start introducing myself to people I see in passing if I like their style to feature them here on the blog. I’ll call it something like, Found Fashion Friday or something like that. haha.

If you guys would like to preview my channel before the official launch, let me know. I’d love to get some feedback from you guys about my channel before it goes public.

Have courage,
Elle

  1. Love the idea of Thrift Store Fashion- that’s about the only place I buy my clothes anymore. And having the courage to go for it and put your work out there is very commendable- I will have to check out your channel!

By the way, I love the style of your blog 🙂
